2009 Harvest

The Piedra 2009 harvest began on Tuesday 15 September and lasted 8 days. We had over 40 experienced pickers and each picked over 600 kilos per day - a fantastic effort to bring in the harvest. Although the summer was hot, our vineyards experienced a few good showers during the early summer allowing the vines to produce fully developed and balanced fruit by harvest time. The lead up to the harvest was dry with one brief shower during the harvest itself, which had no negative effect. The fruit was all completely healthy and perfectly mature, so much so that our winemaker, Santiago Rivera, was all smiles by the end of the harvest. He is predicting a great vintage - possibly one of the best in Piedra's history.

All the wines have now finished the fermentation process and are about to start their malolactic fermentation. There is still a lot of work going on daily in the winery as the new wines are gently and caringly coaxed from stage to stage.

Visitor
Our new Visitor's Centre has been very busy over the past month and, with several fiestas and puentes (long weekends) in Castilla y Leon and other parts of Spain, we have had the pleasure of seeing many large and small groups of visitors.
We have also had a number of visitors from outside Spain. Our new Centre is open during the week from [10:00 am - 7:00 pm] and at weekends from [10:00 am - 3:00 pm]. Drop-in visitors are welcome - of course, for larger parties, calling ahead (980-69-39-00) will give us time to make your visit more enjoyable. We look forward to seeing you.(visitas@estanciapiedra.com)
