IN AUGUST...
In August, the grapes start to show the red wine colour; they are ripening, gradually.
The berries are maturating to be harvested in September.
The vineyard looks wonderful and attracts our attention…flirting,
We devote every minute of the day to the vines and attentively, we follow all its changes.
In August, we are looking forward to meeting our friends who return to their home town for holidays. There is nothing compared to the sensation of being all friends together, enjoying a glass of wine, speaking about everything and nothing…just enjoying the moment.
AZUL 2009: Berry's notes (www.bbr.com)
Tinto de Toro is the local synonym for Rioja's famous Tempranillo grape. The grape's trademark generosity of fruit and elegance of tannins are clearly evidenced, together with a complexity and power rare in a wine of this price pointl. The fruits are from the darker end of the spectrum with morello cherry and blackcurrant to the fore, underwritten by hints of liquorice and dark chocolate. Lovely with casseroles or roasts. Toro has long shown potential, but for too long produced wines where alcohol has masked all else. The tide is turning; this is a super wine, and great value to boot.

It is the biggest old vineyard in Toro Appellation. ESTANCIA PIEDRA WINE BAR, is more than that, it is an experience!!
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
Estancia Piedra wants to go one step further from the cultural concept of wine.
That is the reason why the winery has put a project into action known as “LEYENDAS DEL VINOTAURO. SIMPOSIOS DE ESTANCIA PIEDRA”.
What we wish is to retrieve the original meaning of the word “symposium” (Greeks understood “symposium” as the act of drinking accompanied by friends just to talk )
The bodega proposes to use Wine as an excuse, as a pretext to favour Literary Meetings in which the lecturers and the visitors go through the history that links Wine and Literature.
Last June 10th , the wine and literature conferences were brought to a close successfully but we will be back at the end of the summer.
We will let you know it!!!
THE WAY OF SAINT JAMES
The Way of St James is the pilgrimage to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, in north-western of Spain. It is said that the remains of the apostle St. James were buried there. The pilgrim carried a scallop shell with him in his way to the cathedral because it is the identity sigh of the apostle; it is the symbol of the Way.
Our shield displays the initials of the winery name , E.P. , E from Estancia and P from Piedra. The letters in our shield were created using Romanesque columns, because Romanesque is the most representative art of our land and a scallop shell, because we are on St James´ Way.
For those who want to discover that St James´ Way is not only the French Way, we recommend: www.caminosantiago.org
